Patricia Pursley, Ministry
Patricia Pursley’s history is no laughing matter. Pat was a true-bred carnival kid, who for years checked out of school on Friday and into a different one on Monday. Her parents were neophytes of Bonnie and Clyde who bootlegged booze. She married young, had two boys and divorced early. Her next husband was an oilman who simultaneously supported Patricia, his former wife, and a mistress. Mistresses stayed with him until Pat witnessed to them and got them saved. The husband was not happy, so, he married another woman –while still married to Pat. Single again, Pat went for the godly type, again and again. It’s been said that her “husband-picker was broken.” Despite it all, she continued to maintain intimacy with the Lord, stood fast as an intercessor, and ministered to women around the world. Her story’s funny – now. It’s full of “you won’t believe this, no-ways, and how did she survive?” Yes, God turned her cacophony of pain into a kaleidoscope of humorous snippets.
